Coming into this class, I didn't have any particular expectations, but so far it's been more hands-on and flexible than I expected. I like that we have different ways to learn and complete assignments instead of just reading and writing essays, since that makes the class more interesting and helps me stay engaged. In high school, I wasn't someone who took the most advanced English classes, so this course feels like a new cilance for me to strengthen my writing skills. I'm looking forward to becoming a stronger writer through more interactive assignments, and I hope the work we do feels meaningful rather than just busy work. One thing I want to focus on is writing about topics that truly interest me because it's easier to stay engaged and explain my ideas clearly that way. I also want to get better at organizing my thoughts and become more confident in my writing overall. Since one of my biggest interests is softball, I think I can connect writing and rhetoric to sports by writing about things like teamwork, leadership, mental performance, and the experiences of student-athletes. Writing about something I care about will help me understand how different writing styles can influence readers. I also think it will help me learn to support my ideas with stronger evidence and express my thoughts more effectively. Another goal have for this course is to feel more comfortable sharing my writing with others and accepting feedback that can help me improve. After looking at the student learning outcomes, I think they're clear and give me a solid idea of what we'll be learning and what's expected during the semester. Overall, I'm excited to keep improving my writing and to see how this class helps me grow as both a student and a writer.
